Since inception of the program over 2000 children have been successfully taught to swim.
The lessons are now an integral part of the community with the children coming to swim class as part of their school curriculum.
There is a dire shortage of swim teachers in Vietnam. In conjunction with AUSTSWIM, Australia’s national organization of swim teachers, we provided the first Vietnamese language AUSTSWIM course in Vietnam.
These newly qualified trained teachers are now employed by Swim Vietnam enabling a sustainable program.
Swim Vietnam was instrumental in having a school pool built in Hoi An, which is now the main venue for the free swimming lessons.
Swim Vietnam been operating successfully for 4 years and has a strong record of excellence in its field. It has built a Vietnamese management team to help ensure long term sustainability.
We are finding ways to become more financially self sustaining e.g. introducing lessons for adults for a fee which then directly funds the free lessons for children.
