The ICRC Special Fund for the Disabled (SFD)'s objective: Continue reinforcing the Ecuadorian rehabilitation service sector in order to better cope with the mid and long-run needs of the thousands who will suffer from physical disability as a result of the earthquake.
The SFD is sending a technical expert to Ecuador to assess the needs of physical rehabilitation following the earthquake that struck the northern coast on 16 April 2016.
The assessment is carried out with our long-term partner, the Fondation Hermano Miguel, based in Quito, and will be coordinated with Handicap International and Cristoffel Blind Mission.
It is imperative for our partner in Ecuador that is facing such catastrophic effects resulting from the earthquake to count on the support of the Special Fund for the Disabled.
The SFD strengthens national capacity in less-resourced countries to remove barriers faced by persons with physical disabilities.
