Blossom was founded in 1993 as a grassroots NGO with the initial focus on social, economic and cultural empowerment of underprivileged women and children. Since then, Blossom has broadened its vision to building community capacity in disadvantaged and high-risk areas of Tamil Nadu. They aim to achieve this through providing individual means to reinforce community development, where both knowledge and resources are preserved and shared by fair, mutual exchange.
Blossom builds the capacity of communities by forming partnerships with community based organizations (CBOs) and stakeholders in society. They use a participatory approach to development, involving beneficiaries in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of its programs.
Blossom undertakes a wide variety of community projects ranging from welfare and advocacy services, childhood education, economic and social empowerment of women, and raising awareness about all socially sensitive issues.
