Caritas is working on the ground through Caritas Philippines and Church networks to reach people in desperate need with food and other aid.
Super Typhoon Haiyan, most likely the largest storm to ever hit land, has battered the Philippines, and communities across the country are counting on our help.
The scale of the disaster is huge, with over 11 million people in need of help and 600,000 forced from their homes.
Fr. Edwin Gariguez, Executive Secretary of Caritas Philippines-NASSA, said, “It’s a catastrophe. The Philippines has never experience a disaster on this scale. We really need all the help we can get.”
Caritas teams are in place as international relief efforts get underway, while national and local Church aid is already getting through.
