SUKRUPA Serves below poverty line community, where most of the children are first generation learners born to young parents who do not have basic education nor skills and migrate from rural poverty in search of opportunities in cities and end up in slums that are unhygienic in addition to other disadvantages.
Men take up construction work and women become domestic helpers. Children’s education is not one of the priorities when providing for basic needs and health care itself is a struggle. Even if a child is sent to school, it’s very likely, majority of them drop out of school by the time they become a teenager.
This is the challenge that SUKRUPA addresses to make sure young girls and boys focus on education and go to college and become Independent, Responsible and Positive Contributors instead of girls becoming mothers at the age of 12 or 13, and boys becoming dependents on the family’s meager income.
