In November 2011 Rob Lilwall and Leon McCarron set off on a 6-month long walking expedition from Mongolia to get to Hong Kong, via a wintery China, to raise funds for the children's charity Viva. They crossed the Gobi desert at minus 30, walked the Great Wall and the frozen Yellow River valley, scaled a multitude of mountains and valleys, and after 150 days, they are almost home!
On 26 May 2012 I will be joining Rob and Leon on the last stretch of their epic walk to Rob's home in Mui Wo. The hike will begin in Discovery Bay and end on Mui Wo beach, and will be over a distance of 6.3km
with an elevation ascent of 260 meters. Though this is not quite like crossing the Gobi desert or walking the Great Wall, hiking this route for 2+ hours on a May afternoon in Hong Kong is no small challenge!
I am doing this hike to join in the fundraising effort to help children at risk around the world. Please do sponsor me to do this - any amounts appreciated!
