INDEX: Design to Improve Life promotes the application of designs and design processes to improve vital areas of people’s lives worldwide. This year, INDEX is targeting the challenge of sanitation for the toiletless with their renowned approach to design for a better world.
On June 29th, INDEX hosted an evening of learning and discussion, introducing the topic of sanitation challenges to designers, and the critical need for engineering optimum solutions to meet the specific needs in developing countries.
This work continues with a full day workshop in Copenhagen on September 6, 2010, that will address the challenge of creating and marketing desirable and effective toilets in the developing world. With clinics in Branding Design, Product Design and Business Model Design, INDEX aims to provide a more holistic output of the workshop focusing on health issues, recognizing that sanitation is a matter of basic human dignity.
