■オックスファム・トレイルウォーカーとは
オックスファム・トレイルウォーカーは4人1組のチームで参加する世界的に行われているウォーキング・イベントです。自分の体力に挑戦すると同時に、参加をきっかけに寄付金を集めて国際協力に貢献するというもうひとつの挑戦が用意された企画で、これまでにオーストラリア、ニュージーランド、イギリス、香港、オランダ、カナダ、ベルギー、アイルランドで開催され、日本でも2007年から毎年開催されています。第三回目となる2009年には、171チームが参加し、約5000万円もの寄付金が集まりました。
これらの寄付金は、国際NGOオックスファムが実施する緊急支援、教育・農業・生計支援などの国際協力プログラム、および日本国内でのアドボカシー活動を通じ、貧困削減のために役立てられています。

■What is Oxfam Trailwalker
Oxfam Trailwalker is a challenging endurance fundraising event in which teams of 4 complete 100km trail through bush terrain in 48hours. Oxfam Trailwalker is a growing global phenomenon. In 2009, Oxfam Trailwalker have taken place in 9 different countries across Australia, New Zealand, China (Hong Kong), the UK, Netherlands, Canada, Belgium, Ireland and Japan.
The donations have been used to implement projects in many of the poorest regions of the world to help end poverty and provide vital relief following natural disasters and conflict.
