IODP is looking for a new name. We started off as Chernobyl Aid Ireland - Dublin, when we were as subsidiary of an organisation called Chernobyl Aid Ireland. But although that organisation set out to begin work with one orphanage, Grosovo is southern Belarus, and then move on to others, its founder decided he wanted to continue to concentrate on that one orphanage.
As our plan was to work with every orphanage in Belarus we parted company and became the Chernobyl Orphanage Development Programme. However the problems besetting the disadvantaged children we work with have little to do with Chernobyl and we moved into India, so we changed our name to the International Orphanage Development Programme. It says what we do but it's long nobody ever remembers it.
As we look to expand what we do we need a catchy name which resonates with what we do.
