President Obama was able to sign his well fought bill concerning the Health Care system on March, 23rd. For years this bill has been a battle in the political arena. But now, in 2010, thirthy million Americans can be sure also from medical care.
Although I have followed this all from a distance, I can't imagine why the necessary health care can not be available for everyone.
I had to think especially to an alarming message that I received from Congo and El Salvador.
Both children's villages are in a malaria contaminated danger zone.
In El Salvador is the situation so bad that the president is talking about a malaria outbreak. Although this disaese is treateble, there is (still) no vaccination against Malaria.
This can only be prevented by mosquito-nets, medication and insecticides. Those last two options mentionned are very expensive, cause side effects and are unfriendly for the environment.
Luckily none of 'our children' are yet infected by the Malaria mosquito. And of course we would like to keep this that way.
A mosquito-net costs € 6,50. According to our Western standards this is a relatif low amount, especially when one thinks of the recovery costs (medication, etc.). Not to speak about the discomfort and contamination hazard that this disease brings with it.
For € 6,50 you can give a child an honest chance in the battle against Malaria.
With € 13,00 two nets can be bought.
A donation of € 21,00 will make a bedroom Malaria free.
Help the children in Congo and El Salvador in their fight against Malaria. Make your contribution today on 734-2000960-53 (BE53-7342-0009-6053) to ICC Belgium vzw mentioning 'Battle against Malaria'.
In name of our children thank you very much for your support.
Ronny Van Dessel (President ICC Belgium vzw)
