Heathlawn Animal Sanctuary was broken into last night. 5 of our dogs were stolen, and horrifically some dogs that are just after having serious surgery and due follow up veterinary care. Along with the dogs, they also stole our supply of leads, collars, ransacked the storage rooms, office and shattered windows. Gardai presently there investigating. More details to follow on our facebook page. Such a horrific thing to happen to these poor animals who have already been through so much in their lives. When will this ever end???
Stolen from Heathlawn. All Micro chipped. If you have knowledge to the whereabouts of these dogs, some still need urgent vet care and medication . PLEASE contact Portumna Garda station or any Garda station. PLEASE don't be silent, we need to get these animals back. These animals will be no use to anyone, as sadly they stole the ones that need immediate care.

Friday afternoon a man walks into our shop carrying a small laundry basket. He has very little English and it takes a few minutes to understand what he is trying to tell us. We lift the lid of the basket and there lying on the bottom are three little kittens. Three little beauties, well fed, clean and very tame, all asleep. All we could get from him was under tree, beside rubbish bin and Galway and Oranmore.
When are people going to stop these acts of madness? An innocent rubbish collector could have come along and dumped that laundry basket into the garbage lorry thinking it was rubbish. What kind of mentality is there out there that people still do these acts of cruelty to innocent kittens and puppies whose only crime is to be born? When will pet owners take responsibility for their pets and do the right thing, neuter their pet. We are full to the rafters and yet after all the warnings and telling people what to do, you still get stupid acts like this.
Just a few weeks ago I spoke on Keith Finnegan, and the local papers covered out pleas regarding unwanted kittens. Have these people listened? No they have not, they just don't care. Life to them is worthless, how else could you do acts like this unless you were a heartless, careless, selfish and I would love to use stronger language but can't.
Again we plead, please be responsible owners, don't dump, work with us and the other rescues out there. It took the kindness of a foreign gentleman whose name we could not get and would love to know, to show us that there is good out there. Thanks to this kind man 3 little kittens have not lost their mittens.
