Some of you may have seen the film the Cove at the Galway film fleadh
www.thecovemovie.com.
It won the best documentary and has received strong support where ever
it has been shown. It deals with the brutal slaughter in Taiji, Japan,
of dolphins.
In addition to the slaughter, some of the dolphins are bought by the
captivity industry to use in the 'Swim with dolphin' programmes. A very
cruel and very profitable industry.
The Irish Seal Sanctuary worked hard to try and prevent dolphins from
hunts such as these from being imported into Mexico, and met with the
Ambassador over the issue. Sadly 7 dolphins were imported before Mexico
finally banned the trade.
Origins, the cosmetic company from the Estee Lauder family, have
offered a prize to customers in the US. The prize is a trip to swim
with dolphins in Cabo Adventures in Mexico, they have the 7 wild
dolphins that originated in Japan.
Considering the 'green' image that Origins uses to market its products
it is shocking that they consider such a prize in keeping with their
image.
Unfortunately if you try to log on to their .com site it takes you
directly to .co.uk where no details of the offer exists as it is purely
a US offer.
We would encourage you to write to Ms Lauder at the address below, or
email her P.A. and ask them to take this offer away and find something
more in keeping with their green, friendly, pure image.
thank you.
