ASSOCIAZIONE FITIL ONLUS was founded in July 2005, with offices in Rome and in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. In the local language FITIL means "small light", therefore also "candle"... symbol and inspiration of the organization.

Fitil works in four villages. Together with the communities we are always searching for new approaches and methods to stimulate local resourcefulness and creativity in ways which will help rural communities to work towards social justice and improve their lives in participative and sustainable ways.

The office in ROME is run entirely by volunteers which include a coordinator, two collaborators, two lawyers, an accountant, various consultants, assistants and a board of directors.

The office in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso is managed by three Burkinabé each with many years of professional experience in this field and in this area of the country. There are also consultants in the medical, educative and social fields.
