Many thanks to designer Rebecca Hamilton and photographer Paul Bamford.
Bubu the bear cub is now around a year and a half old. His rehab is going well, he is learning to recognise and enjoy the foods he will find in the wild and he is nearly ready for release. We plan to return him to the wild before the end of 2010. Many thanks go to everyone who has donated towards the costs of his rehab and release.

The Andean Bear Foundation Calendar 2011 is now available! We are delighted that for the first time ever we have our own calendar, featuring Bubu, the orphaned bear cub currently in rehabilitation and due to be released into the wild by the end of 2010.

The calendar is available on Zazzle using the following links:

Many thanks to designer Rebecca Hamilton for all her work on this beautiful calendar, and to photographer Paul Bamford for the majority of the images.
1st to 4th October, to tie in with World Animal Day on the 4th, is Bubu's Big Event. Our orphaned Andean bear cub wants everyone to help spread the word about this endangered species. Find out more on Bubu's Facebook Profile where you can join in! Or download the Andean Bear Quiz - answers will be published on the Andean Bear Foundation website on Monday.

High-quality images and films of Andean or spectacled bears in the wild are hard to find. The Andean Bear Project has volunteer opportunities for wildlife photographers and filmmakers to capture the bears on film and document the research and conservation work of the project. The project operates in beautiful scenery in the cloud forests and paramo (high grasslands) of Ecuador, with a wealth of other wildlife as well as the timid, elusive bears.
