Bonn, 4. August 2010 – following the severest floods for decades in Pakistan, the Aktion Deutschland Hilft alliance calls for donations for the victims.
Following heavy monsoon rainfalls, the northwest of the country is almost completely cut off from the outside world. Up to two million people are affected by the floods and require aid. More than 1,000 people have already lost their lives. The rain remains unceasing, which worsens the situation hourly in the catastrophe region.

The Johanniter provide the victims with mobile medical clinics and CARE supports the health teams, the mobile clinics and the distribution of emergency aid articles for the victims. Together with medical care, Malteser International also plans the distribution of hygiene kits and kitchen utensils because the outbreak of epidemics is feared. For initial aid measures, Aktion Deutschland Hilft makes €50,000 from emergency aid funds.
Moreover, further member organisations such as CARE, World Vision, Handicap International, Kinderhilfswerk Global Care and arche noVa plan measures within the areas of emergency aid, medical aid, the provision of drinking water, hygiene protection and the provision of emergency accommodation.
