Aiducation International currently raises scholarships from AiduMakers via its scholarship-raising chapters in Switzerland, Germany and Singapore, and donates them to high potential students in Kenya (talent-raising chapter).
After successfully initiating scholarship-raising chapters in Switzerland, Germany and Singapore (in progress), Aiducation International is now looking to establish a second talent-raising chapter. The country in which that chapter will be placed is not decided upon yet, however one of the short-listed countries for a new talent-raising chapter is India. According to the Selected Educational Statistics (2005-06) from the Department of Higher Education, 12 million out of 52 million students drop out at secondary school level in India, with financial restraints being the primary cause after opportunity cost and parental disinterest. Through a talent-raising chapter similar to Kenya, AI India will hope to identify bright and needy students among these drop-outs, and provide them merit-based scholarships sourced from AI's scholarship-raising chapters.
Work responsibilities (Broad scope and non-restrictive):
1. Feasibility Report and Presentation: Analyze the Indian education system and its problems, determine the most efficient way for AI to enter the system and suggest the key features of the product in India (merit-based scholarship). (Already in progress)
2. Recruit a small team (to begin with) to conduct ground work, gather preliminary information and establish partnerships with schools and other NGOs.
3. Liaise with the country advisors from the AI headquarters in Switzerland and continuously update them on the progress. Study the current business model in Kenya.
4. Legally initiate the talent-raising Chapter and test run an efficient method for identifying high potential students.
Most members of Aiducation International keep paid full-time jobs and work with AI in their spare time, purely out of their passion for the cause of AI. While it is not possible to quantify exactly the time desired to be spent by the recruit with AI, we are looking for a committed high potential ready to invest approximately 10 hours a week (at least in the initial stages).
Eligibility:
· Keen interest in the non-profit / education sector in India.
· Self-starter and entrepreneurial, with the ability to motivate others.
· Good communication skills to be able to establish networks with schools & NGOs.
· Constant access to the Internet, especially Skype, which is the backbone of such a globally dispersed organization.
· Past start-up experience / involvement in the non-profit sector is preferred, but not compulsory to apply.
Aiducation International, as a not-for-profit organization in its infancy, will not be able to provide any remuneration at this time. However, this is a great opportunity for an individual to gain experience in the non-profit sector, network with high potential individuals, and contribute to the upliftment of the less-fortunate in the Indian society.
