A workshop on mental retardation, psychological education, problem focused, counseling and ethical practice in trauma treatment was held at Siem Reap center for 2 days starting from 26 to 27 April 2010, organized and trained by AFESIP staff, Mr. So Sayon, counselor and Mr. Kim Raksmey, psychologist. The workshop held at the request from Handicap International and funded by TPO (Trans-cultural Psychological Organization) participated by 21 participants of 12 local non-governmental organizations around Siem Reap town. The purpose of the workshop is to build the capacity of relevant staff who have worked directly with the victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation to understand more how to care about them.
Monirath, the center manager who was one of the panel members expressed his satisfaction for being host to the workshop and wished the workshop successful and fruitful. During the session, there were demonstration through video clip, case study, role play and group discussion.
At the closing session of the 2-day workshop, a representative of participants expressed her thanks to AFESIP Cambodia for the important training and determination to make the lessons learnt become realistic.
