Thabyay is a well established NGO focusing on higher education related to the development of Burma. The challenges that community leaders face are highly complex and require strong analytical skills, professional expertise and a broad understanding of the socio-political environment.

Yet universities in Burma are effectively in a state of collapse and widespread poverty puts higher education abroad beyond the reach of young people committed to social change. High school graduates from Burma often have neither the qualifications, nor the academic skills to pursue higher education abroad. Furthermore, people have little information about the educational opportunities due to the poor communications infra-structure and censorship inside Burma.

For more than ten years Thabyay has been providing access to quality higher education for Burmese students from diverse backgrounds.This is done through a network of four interconnected programs and two grantee organizations.
