    Africa's largest country is poorly developed and ridden with conflict. Most of the country's 35 million people are subsistence agro-pastoralists surviving on less than one US dollar a day. The country is struggling to recover from more than two decades of civil war, while a separate conflict still rages in Darfur .

    We are attempting to get essential supplies to vulnerable families in western Darfur before the wet season begins in july and august. An estimated 2.5 miliion people have been displaced by the conflict in Darfur and the numbers are gowing.

    The average person in Kenya is expected to live for only 45 years. A figure which partly reflects the huge number of kenians suffering population. Muhoroni, the location of the present WFP funded project, is in the South-West in Kenia and has shared the problems of the rest of the country.

    Womanwaterkenya%20(Small).jpg Poverty, low economic growth, drought-prone arid lands and high population growth cause increasing hunger in Kenya . The country is prone to severe and rapid food insecurity caused by climatic shocks. Most families in the arid and semi-arid lands are subsequently extremely vulnerable and chronically food-insecure.

    There are also a large number of food insecure female and grandparent-headed households whose breadwinner(s) has (have) died as a result of AIDS.

    live 8.jpgFWH has supported over 1500 project since founding in 1990. All projects are concentrated in the least developed countries of the world and aimed at eradicating poverty.

    Hunger is a bigger threat to global health than AIDS, malaria and TB combined.

    Over 90 percent of the world's hungry are prisoners of poverty. They are too poor to buy enough food. They spend all their time and energy trying to survive.
