The Changarawe Project was started in 1998 by Carolyn Walford and Felistas Kalomo with the aim of providing free nursery education for the many orphaned and destitute children of Changarawe village, Morogoro region, Tanzania.

The Project has grown steadily since 1998 and the school is now complemented by three other initiatives - a Micro-Finance Scheme for Women, the Nigel Lloyd Fund for orphan support and a Bibi Club which is support for the grandmothers; many of whom are the carers of orphans.

The Project is a local initiative in every sense of the word, linking a family and small community in the UK with families in a village in Tanzania. It is Tanzanian led and run, with financial support provided by the trustees in London.
