Henry Wanyoike Foundation (HWF) is a registered organization by the government of Kenya through registry of societies, registration no. 24475 on 29th March 2005. Henry Wanyoike Foundation is named after and by Henry Wanyoike the visually impaired (blind) athlete. Wanyoike is the world record holder of 5,000 and 10,000 meters in Paralympics of Athens 2004 and Sydney 2000 among other international marathons.

In 1st May 1995, Henry woke up in total darkness and after arguing with his mother that it wasn’t yet daytime it dwelled on him he had gone blind. It was caused by mild stroke, he is over 95% blind.

Besides his athletic career, Henry Wanyoike has always given something back to the community. He has participated in many charitable activities in Kenya particularly to assist the poor, persons with disabilities, orphans and other less privileged people.
