pain and suffering caused to those most affected by climate change.

Steve Trent, Director of The Environmental Justice Foundation has said that, "WED has a powerful role to play in bringing us all closer together to both understand and deal with the mounting environmental crisis we face in our shared, common environment."
A representative of Oxfam Ireland commented "We must all play our part in calling on governments
to secure a strong, just global deal on climate change in 2009.World Environment Day is a time when we
should make our voices heard".
“The most important meeting mankind has ever had”
This December,
180 days after World Environment Day, the UN will hold the International
Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. 2009 is a critical year for action by
the international community to
tackle climate change and this conference has been deemed"the most important meeting mankind has
ever had" by Oxfam’s Campaigns Director, Thomas Schultz-Jagow
The theme for this year’s WED — 'Your Planet Needs You - UNite to Combat Climate Change' — reflects the urgent need of nations to collaborate for a safe and effective climate agreement in December.
In addition to the ammado World Environment Day Fund, the ammado "Combat Climate Change" community is a space where individuals and organisations can share useful and practical information about climate change and promote awareness of the many international awareness campaigns in the run-up to Copenhagen this December.
We hope this campaign is a huge success, please visit the WED Fund profile to donate or show your support. Thank you!

Currently it is difficult for the international community to donate to Italian aid agencies working on the ground in Abruzzo. To overcome this challenge the American and Irish Red Cross are now accepting donations on behalf of their Italian colleagues.
