TURNER'S CSR AWARDS
For the last four years Turner has worked with its charity partner Plan International to provide schools in Africa. As we broadcast to Africa and are experts in children's entertainment it makes perfect sense to concentrate some of our volunteering and philanthropic efforts building schools in the world's poorest countries. Working with Plan International we have so far fundraised all the money for and helped to build schools in Mali, Rwanda and Malawi. Staff from around our European offices have been involved in each project and 2012's school is to Ethiopia and twenty staff are aiming to raise £40,000. Turner helps by providing funds, giving staff time off and also pays for the majority of the trip costs with the volunteers paying the rest so all the money that is fundraised goes to the project.
Turner donates around £20 million worth of airtime a year and together with other donations this put it into The Percent Club alongside The Body Shop, BBC and Sainsbury’s as one of the UK’s one hundred most generous companies.
