About the Community

The Run for Fund community was formed to support of the Singapore Bone Marrow Donor Programme (BMDP). By running in the Singapore Standard Chartered Marathon, a group of us hope to raise funds and build awareness.
Everyday, 6 people in Singapore are diagnosed with leukaemia or other blood-related diseases, almost half of whom are children. As BMDP maintains Singapore’s register of volunteer bone marrow donors, many of these patients require BMDP’s assistance to find a match for a Bone Marrow Transplant. It costs almost $1,000 to completely test a matching donor. BMDP urgently needs to raise funds to finance this testing, to increase donor recruitment and to continue all other public outreach activities.
