The ammado Foundation is the nonprofit arm arm of ammado Ltd, established as a charitable trust.
The past week has seen many nonprofit organizations campaigning for donations for their East Africa Crisis Appeals on Facebook using the ammado Giving App.
We wanted to share a few examples with you to show how the Giving App can be customised for particular appeals to be more effective. Donations made through Facebook work in the same way as regular donations through ammado: 76 currencies are supported as well as dozens of domestic and international payment methods. Donations are transferred to you as usual.

Adding the Giving App to your page is quick and easy! To add the App please visit: http://www.facebook.com/givenow
Here you will find a presentation which shows you, step-by-step, how to add the Giving App and how to change the name and give it prominence for appeals.
Allowing the App to post to your Facebook wall will help your campaign to spread virally. Individuals are prompted to donate and can do so immediately by clicking "donate" on the status post.
The Giving App can be added to any Facebook Page - and influential supporters or organisations who are interested in your appeal can help increase donations by adding the App to their Facebook pges. Java Republic for example are supporting Plan Ireland's East Africa Appeal on their Facebook Page.

With the ammado Giving Widget you can accept donations directly from your own website. The widget is available for use by nonprofits, companies, and individuals. It is free to use, and offers secure global donations in more than 75 currencies, and most major global and local payment methods.
If your nonprofit is new to ammado you will need to first signup and then apply for the donation facility (this typically takes 1 or 2 working days for us to validate your nonprofit details). Once enlisted to receive donations you can get the Giving Widget embed code by clicking on the 'Get Giving Widget' button on your ammado nonprofit profile when signed in. Copy and pasting the embed code into your website is all that is required to embed our donation widget on your website, blog, or intranet.
We do provide some additional configuration options to control the look and feel of the Giving Widget on your website. You do not need to keep updating the embedded code every time you modify one of these customisation settings as the settings are stored with your ammado profile rather than in the embed code itself. Simply embed the widget code once on your site and you can change the beneficiary and the look and feel afterwards.
