ammado provides a global online donation platform. The purpose of this Giving Policy is to outline the various giving features available on the ammado platform to individual donors, nonprofits and companies. By visiting this website, you are accepting the terms of this Giving Policy. This Giving Policy is a preliminary version and is subject to change.
I.Any member or non-member can make a donation on ammado. Our donation options range from once-off donations to one nonprofit, to recurring donations to multiple nonprofits, to the distribution of giving vouchers, payroll giving and corporate donation matching.
II.Security is of paramount importance to ammado and therefore, we have carefully selected our third-party payment service provider. ammado uses RBS WorldPay to process its donations and to ensure that your donation payment details are handled securely. RBS WorldPay is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and is a leading provider of electronic payment services. All payment details for donations are handled by RBS WorldPay. ammado does not store any payment details from our donors or even require you to enter such details on our site. For more information on RBS Worldpay, visit www.rbsworldpay.com.
III.You can choose to donate using any of our 31 currencies and switch currencies from one donation to the next. ammado monitors the strength of our currencies and will add to and remove from the list on an ongoing basis. Individual donations can be made using a wide variety of payment methods worldwide.
IV.Only ammado-approved nonprofits can receive donations on ammado. ammado may approve a nonprofit based on the completion of a rigorous application process. ammado will use its best efforts to ensure but cannot guarantee the legitimacy of each nonprofit it approves for the donations facility. If you have doubts about the legitimacy of a nonprofit receiving donations please inform us immediately on support@ammado.com. Companies distributing ammado vouchers or availing of ammado’s payroll giving and matching services can restrict beneficiaries to individual nonprofits, specific categories or countries.
V.Nonprofits can join ammado free of charge in order to utilize the platform as an awareness tool. If a nonprofit would like to participate in the donation functionality on ammado, the following charges can incur:
VI.In many countries, donations to nonprofits are tax deductible. Tax systems vary worldwide so check with your local tax authorities regarding what is required to claim tax back. ammado provides a receipt for all successfully processed donations on ammado. These receipts contain a unique code that can be verified by ammado and are provided to donors as evidence of their donation.
VII.US International Transaction Fees: If you donate using a US credit card please note your bank and/or credit card company may impose an additional “international transaction fee” on your donation, as it is processed outside the USA. This surcharge is not imposed by or visible to ammado or its payment service providers and is not covered by the 5% deduction. The surcharge will be itemized on your statement. Please contact your bank and/or credit card company for details of any such fees it may impose.
VIII.Currency exchange fees: If you donate in a currency other than that of your chosen payment method, your transaction will require a currency exchange. Your bank or payment provider may impose a currency exchange fee for this service. This fee is not imposed by ammado or its payment service providers and is not covered by the 5% deduction. Please contact your bank and/or payment provider for details of any such fees it may impose.
I.Whether you are an ammado member or not, you can donate by clicking on the "Donate" buttons which you will find throughout the site and follow the necessary steps.
II.The minimum donation amount is €4 or the equivalent amount in each of the available currencies. This amount can be distributed between up to 100 different nonprofits.
III.The minimum donation amount might be lower when redeeming a giving voucher.
IV.Donations can be made anonymously by ticking the 'Donate Anonymously' checkbox on the "Make a Donation" page to ensure that your name is not displayed to the nonprofit. You will still receive a receipt for your donation with your name on the receipt but this will not be visible to others. If a donor donates "anonymously", no information about the donor can be passed to nonprofits. If a donor does not select the 'Donate Anonymously' checkbox in their donation, the donor is agreeing that their information may be used by the benefitting nonprofits so long as it complies with the relevant data protection legislation.
V.Comments can be left with donations but please be aware that ammado has no influence on how your donation is spent by the benefitting nonprofit.
VI.All donations made through ammado are final unless extraordinary circumstances, such as fraudulent use of your credit or debit card are proven. If such circumstances arise, please contact support@ammado.com.
VII.Certain features are only available to signed-up ammado members:
I.ammado provides nonprofits with a highly sophisticated online donation platform, giving organizations around the world access to a global donor base.
II.In order to apply for the donations facility, you first need to set up an ammado profile which is free for nonprofits. To find out whether your organization qualifies for a presence on ammado, please read our nonprofit recognition policy. Once you have checked that your organization qualifies for a presence on ammado, you can simply apply by clicking the "Join" button on the ammado homepage and filling out the required form. Approval of your application may take up to a few days.
III.Once your profile is up and running, you can apply for donations by clicking the 'Apply for Donations' button on your ammado profile and enter your organization's registration details and payment details on the form that displays. We require such details to ensure that only valid nonprofits receive donations and funds will be lodged to the correct accounts. Your submitted application will then be reviewed. If your application is successful, you will receive an email containing a PIN and further instructions. You need to provide the name, address, email address and contact details of one of the trustees of your organization that can be independently verified as a) belonging to your organization and b) being able to approve the decision to receive donations on ammado. For example, the name and details of your CEO or Chairman that may be listed on a state-approved database would suffice. Please provide supporting evidence of this member such as the URL of the database. Please note that ammado takes your organization's privacy very seriously and will not share these details with any third parties without your express permission.
IV.ammado ensures that all bank details are stored in a secured database. We also ensure that bank account details cannot be viewed or edited through ammado. Only a minimum of information is provided to the nonprofits to identify their accounts if they want to review their bank details.
V.Nonprofits can receive donations on ammado in 31 currencies. ammado lodges these funds to nonprofits’ bank accounts in up to four currencies (U.S. Dollar, British Pound, Euro, Japanese Yen), also called settlement currencies. A nonprofit can have up to four bank accounts with ammado, one for each settlement currency. If you have more than one bank account from our four settlement currencies, you need to choose a primary bank account. If you receive a donation in one of the four settlement currencies for which you do not have a bank account with ammado, this donation will be lodged into your primary bank account based on currency exchange rates at the time of lodgment. If you receive a donation in a non-settlement currency, it will be converted into a settlement currency based on currency exchange rates at the time when the donation was made, as follows:
VI.Nonprofits can view a donations statement on their profile page by clicking on the "donations" tab in the menu bar and following instructions. A "pending" donation is a donation that has been acknowledged. Donations remain in a "pending" state until the amount is transferred to ammado at which time it will change to a "success state". Payments are made to nonprofits monthly and only if the amount of successful donations exceeds €100 or its equivalent in other currencies. This is to minimize the costs associated with transactions.
VII.Nonprofits pay the bank charges for the transfer of accumulated donations to their accounts. All amounts are rounded to the nearest unit of the currency. If a transaction cannot be completed, the nonprofit that provided the bank details will incur the bank costs involved in returning those transactions to ammado.
VIII.ammado monitors bank accounts on a daily basis and any unusual or large transactions will be investigated. Suspected fraudulent activity will lead to further investigation and account termination.
IX.The selection of a primary category is required for the ammado giving circle. The ammado giving circle displays a visual representation of donations based on the primary categories of nonprofits.
X.Once the required steps have been followed, the nonprofit becomes eligible for donations on ammado and a "Donate" button will appear on your public ammado profile. You can also click the "promote our profile" button where you will find HTML code, which you can embed on your own website to drive visitors to your new online donation facility. You can also place the "Donate" button on your blog or facebook account. The same applies to all your individual supporters.
I.ammado can facilitate employee and customer giving.
II.Companies can buy company giving vouchers directly from ammado business development representatives or by sending a request to support@ammado.com.
III.Companies can distribute company giving vouchers from the giving vouchers menu on the company profile page. Giving vouchers can be sent to ammado members or to any email address. Companies can also upload the email addresses of the company's contacts to receive the vouchers. A custom message can be added to all vouchers before being sent.
IV.Companies have the option of purchasing vouchers that restrict the beneficiaries to specific nonprofits, fundraising communities, categories or countries. Please include your company's requirements for vouchers at the time of purchase.
V.Individuals can redeem a company giving voucher by accessing www.ammado.com/redeem and entering the unique voucher code. When individuals redeem a voucher, the member or company that issued the voucher will instantly be added to the individual's profile, giving the company messaging rights to the individual.
VI.ammado urges companies not to use their messaging rights to sell products and services to individuals, but rather communicate about the company's Corporate Social Responsibility and community engagement activities.
VII.When a member redeems a voucher purchased by the company, the company's ammado giving circle updates accordingly, showing the benefitting categories and nonprofits. The company may decide to display the donated amount or to keep this information private. The company can export its giving circle to the company website or blog, graphically displaying the nonprofits supported by its employees or customers.
VIII.Whenever a donation is made with a company voucher, the company gets credited on the benefitting nonprofit's profile page as well as in the activity feeds of the people associated with the company.
IX.The company can access a live statement to view the donor who used the voucher plus the amount and beneficiaries unless the donor elected to remain anonymous. "Pending" means that payment for the ammado giving vouchers is still being processed. Once payment is successfully processed, all orders and ammado giving vouchers associated with the payment will update automatically to status "successful".
X.Ammado charges a 5% fee to companies for its matching donation program.
XI.To find out more about ammado's payroll giving and matching program please contact companies@ammado.com.
I.Fundraising communities are communities that allow members to raise funds for any given cause or a number of causes.
II.You must be a moderator of a community to start fundraising. If you create a community, you are automatically the moderator. On the Community profile page, click 'Start Fundraising' and follow the instructions.
III.Any member, nonprofit or company on ammado can start fundraising in communities they moderate.
IV.The nonprofits you choose to receive donations in your fundraising community are called "beneficiaries". You can change them when you begin fundraising and anytime after that without the need to stop fundraising. To edit the beneficiaries in a fundraising community, click 'Edit' on the fundraising page. Once you have edited the beneficiaries click 'Save'. The new donations will be forwarded to the new beneficiaries.
V.When a beneficiary cannot receive donations anymore, it is removed from the beneficiaries list and fundraising continues in the community. If this is the last beneficiary in the community, the fundraising is automatically stopped and an email is sent to the community moderators. The moderators in this case must add other beneficiaries to the community to restart fundraising.
VI.The funds are made visible to the beneficiaries immediately after a donation to a fundraising community. Thereafter, funds are paid monthly once the nonprofit has received at least €100 or equivalent in other currencies from all donations on ammado.
VII.Even if your fundraising target is reached, the fundraising community remains active and people can still donate to this community until the moderator decides to stop fundraising.
