On Tuesday 17th June, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) set-up a mock refugee camp on Trafalgar Square in London . Coinciding with Refugee Week and the visit of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres to London, the exhibition provided an opportunity for Londoners and visitors to engage with the realities of life in a refugee camp and serves as a reminder that most of the 33 million globally displaced people reside in the world’s poorest countries. UNHCR field staff recreated the registration process and each tent illustrated UNHCR’s work on the ground, from providing shelter and food to helping refugees rebuild their lives in a new community. THANK YOU all for taking the opportunity to visit Trafalgar Square and experience a refugee camp on the border of Chad and Darfur!

UNHCR rushes to transfer refugees to new camp in southern Chad

UNHCR concerned about increasing violence in east Chad
